Air Arabia Resumes Flights to Puntland, Enhancing Regional Connectivity

Bosaso, (Idil News) – Air Arabia has officially resumed its flights to Puntland and marking a major milestone in improving trade, travel, and global connectivity between the Gulf and the Horn of Africa.

The inaugural flight of the Sharjah–Bosaso route was celebrated on January 14, 2025, with Hon. Mohamed Baarri Shire, the First Deputy and acting Speaker of the Puntland Parliament, presiding over the launch ceremony in Bosaso. This new connection replaces the previously served Sharjah–Hargeisa route, which ended in November 2023.

The airline’s return to Puntland signals a renewed commitment to bolstering economic ties and enhancing access for travelers and businesses. The service is expected to significantly benefit the Puntland diaspora and local communities by facilitating easier travel and fostering trade opportunities.

Air Arabia will operate the Sharjah–Bosaso service on a weekly basis using its A320 aircraft. The schedule is as follows:

  • Flight G9660 departs Sharjah at 08:00 and arrives in Bosaso at 09:55.
  • Flight G9661 departs Bosaso at 10:45 and lands in Sharjah at 14:40.

This strategic development underscores the growing importance of Puntland’s commercial hub, Bosaso, as a gateway to the wider East Africa region and beyond.

The partnership reflects a shared vision to enhance regional integration and support economic growth in both the United Arab Emirates and Puntland.

Passengers can now book their flights through Air Arabia’s official channels, offering a convenient and affordable option for those traveling between the two regions.
