Al-Shabaab Seizes Three Key Bridges Threatening Mogadishu’s Security

Al-Shabaab has taken control of three critical bridges in Lower Shabelle, raising major concerns about the security of Mogadishu.

The militant group captured:
1. Awdheegle Bridge
2. Bariire Bridge
3. Aanoole Bridge

Only Jannaale Bridge remains under government control.

These bridges are vital routes leading to Mogadishu. When controlled by the government, they helped block Al-Shabaab from moving explosives into the capital, reducing suicide bombings. With three of the four now in militant hands, security experts warn that Mogadishu is at serious risk.

In a separate development, Al-Shabaab claimed to have taken Guulane, near Aden Yabaal, shortly after President Hassan Sheikh visited the area.

Foreign governments, security experts, and opposition leaders are warning of a worsening crisis unless immediate action is taken.
