Gedion Timotheos appointed as Ethiopia’s new minister of Foreign Affairs

Gedion Timotheos has been appointed as Ethiopia’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, filling the position vacated by Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie, who recently became the country’s president.

Gedion has been working as the Minister of Justice before his latest appointment.

State media report that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also announced additional cabinet appointments. Salamawit Kassaye, who previously served as Ethiopia’s State Minister for the Federal Communication Service, has been named Minister of Tourism. Hanna Arayaselassie takes on the role of Minister of Justice after serving as the Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission.
