An improvised explosive device (IED) explosion perpetrated by Al-Shabaab miltants explosion killed 20 people today at a café in Daynile, Mogadishu, with a further 10 people seriously injured.
Reports indicate dozens of casualties after explosions from two devices planted at a tea and beverages kiosk in the Daynile district, northwest Mogadishu. The explosions occurred at around 2:15 p.m. local time.
The target of the bombing was a café in the Daynile district a popular hangout spot for police and military officials.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the death toll is expected to rise.
This is Al-Shabaab’s second largest attack on Mogadishu since the Liido Beach attack earlier this month in August.
The federal government based in Mogadishu has not yet commented on the attack.
