A reconciliation committee has been formed to address the prolonged conflicts in the border areas between the Somali and Afar regional states. The conflicts have inflicted heavy casualties and severe property damage over the years.
The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council has taken the crucial role of mediator to facilitate the reconciliation process. This initiative aims to bring cooperation and a promising future to the affected communities, as reported by Jeilu TV.
A joint committee, comprising representatives from both regions and independent bodies, has been established to oversee the progress of reconciliation efforts. The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council will supervise this committee to ensure effective reconciliation.
