Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Isse Awad has signed the ratification instrument of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to deposit this vital Convention at the UN’s Treaty Section, officially concluding Somalia’s ratification process.

UNSOM commends the Federal Government of Somalia – in particular President Farmaajo, Minister Deqa Yasin and the Ministry of Women and Human Rights Development – for taking another key step for the protection of the right of persons with disabilities, demonstrating its firm commitment to human rights.
