United Nations in Somalia S James Swan met today the President of JL

The representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Somalia SRSG James Swan met today the President of JL Ahmed Madobe in Kismayo.

The agenda of the meeting discussed the National Consultative Conference (NCC) which the Jubaland administration withdrew few days ago.

The administration of Jubaland shared with the UN representative views on the Elections and Review of the Constitution of the country.

Amb Swan, conveyed the need to return to the Conference and resolve the differences within the Conference, but President Ahmed insisted that he will not return to Mogadishu, and that he is doing what the constitution of JL allows.

It is worth noting that Swan’s proposal was not just about pressure rather was limited to an exchange of views.

In the past, Deni, Ahmed and Swan differed in their respective views of the Somali’s political process as he’s alleged on siding with the FGS.

Also, a delegation from the European Union is expected to arrive Kismayo tomorrow discussing the same agenda.
