The President of Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, last night held a meeting with the Ethiopian PM, Abiy Ahmed Ali, in Addis Ababa, the Capital City of Ethiopia.
The meeting, which was held behind closed doors, discussed the strengthening of relations between Puntland and Ethiopia, and cooperation in the areas of security and economy. President Deni and PM Abiy Ahmed agreed to promote bilateral cooperation and the exchange of security intelligence information, in order to defeat groups that threaten security, such as terrorism.
An intelligence source told IDILNEWS that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has promised that Ethiopia will increase its support to Puntland Security Agencies, especially PISA Intelligence, which receives training from Addis Ababa.
The meeting came after the Ethiopian Ambassador to Somalia recently delivered a message of invitation to Puntland President from Abiy Ahmed.
President Deni who left Garowe yesterday will also go to other countries including the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Kenya.
