WHO COULD REPLACE THE IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER?

Following the death of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in the helicopter crash, Ali Bagheri Kani is being considered as his replacement.

Ali Bagheri Kani, 56, has been a key figure in Iran’s political landscape, serving as the political deputy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2021.

He has played a critical role in nuclear negotiations and mediated the September 2023 prisoner release deal between Iran and the U.S.

Known for his hardline stance, Bagheri Kani is a significant candidate to assume the role of Foreign Minister due to his extensive experience and family connections.
